Labrador Retriever has been very popular in the United States for the past two decades, and have claimed the position of the most popular breed in the United States for more than 20 years.
The breed was first found in Newfoundland in the 1700’s and started being imported to England in the early 1800’s.
The exact origin of the breed is still unknown, but many experts speculate that Labrador Retriever is in fact a crossbreed between the French St. Hubert’s dog.
In the United States, the first Labrador was registered in the AKC in 1919. During that time a Lab breed is still a very rare breed and up until 1927, only 23 Labradors have been registered so far.
In the 1928, there was an article in the magazine of American Kennel Gazette that had a discussion about Labrador Retriever, and after that it became more well known by the Americans.
